San Sebastian Film Festival  (September 18-26)

San Sebastian Film Festival in Spain will open with Woody Allen's Rifkin Festival and will feature many titles that have been selected for the Cannes Label, including Thomas Vinterberg's Another Round and François Ozon's Summer Of 85.  Film screenings will be reduced by 30% and theater's capacities will be limited.  Industry activity will take place both physical and online. 

World Content Market, Moscou (September 22 - 24)  

Online market connecting international sellers and Russian & CIS buyers. 

Zurich Film Festival and Summit (September 24 – October 4)

The Zurich Film Festival and Summit will take place as scheduled September 24 – October 4. As organizers said, it can be the  "first big cultural event in Switzerland after the lockdown” with, of course, coronavirus safety measures. Regarding the industry programme, we don't know anything yet.

BFI London Film Festival (October 7-18)

LFF will organise some life events but mainly it is gonna an online edition. 50 films will be selected for virtual premieres, with 12 screening in theaters across the country. Preview screenings and online talks via a secure viewing library will be organized for the industry activity. The program will be published on September 8.

MIPCOM 2020 (October 12-14)

MIPCOM 2020 is transforming into a hybrid physical MIPCOM RENDEZVOUS CANNES and digital MIPCOM Online+ experience. The combination of the mipcom online and the mipcom online+ will allow the international community to connect and share the experience of the mipcom from anywhere in the world and exhibitors who have already reserved a stand  in that year will receive a choice of reimbursements or credits for the mipcom online+.

Busan International Film Festival (October 7-16)

South Korea’s Busan International Film Festival's submissions are opened for the October's edition.Following the example of the Cannes Film Market, the Busan Film Market will take place online from 12 to 14 October 2020. Only the Entertainment Intellectual Property Market, an exchange area dedicated to original content, will combine online and physical events.

Rome Film Fest (October 15-25)

The physical edition has been announced along with an initial line-up, including new titles and some collaboration with Cannes as the Cannes festival’s director Thierry Frémaux said “Cannes didn’t take place this year but we are honored to present the 2020 Official Selections’ movies where they are invited. In Rome, with its Fest, its history and its spirit, cinema is still alive.” Note that a retrospective of the Indian filmmaker Satyajit Ray is planned. 

33rd Tokyo International Film Festival (October 31 – November 9)

In discussion. Organizers say there will be a physical edition, as long as they can guarantee the safety of public, professionals and staff. It will note hesitate to postpone or cancel if it cannot make that guarantee. 

American Film Market  (November 3 – 8)

AFM will go ahead as an online version for 2020. The questions around international travel to the U.S. has been a key in the final organisation.

DOC NYC (November 11-19)

Hybrid, both offline and online. The program will be announced in October.

International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (November 18-29)

IDFA announced a physical 2020 edition in November, with special measures and more than probably, reduced capacity. The markets IDFA Forum (November 23-27) and Docs for Sales will take place online. Strict 

International Film Festival Karlovy Vary (54 1/2 edition, November 18-21)

After having cancelled its 55th edition in July, the Czech Republic’s Karlovy Vary postponed his event to a four-day festival in the fall, called ‘Karlovy Vary IFF 54 ½’. Running November 18-21, it will physically screen 30 movies. The festival will be back with its official 55th edition next July.

CONTENT LONDON 2020 – International Drama Summit (December 1-3)

The annual gathering of the global scripted community will take place as usual: "two venue conference with a screenings program, coproduction marketplace, script and pitch competitions, drama awards, commissioner one-on-ones, speed networking, case studies, hot properties, premieres, networking parties and so much more."

ATF, Asia TV Forum & Market (December 1-4)

Physical edition. 2020 edition will take place at MARINA BAY SANDS HOTEL TOWER 3, Singapore starting on 01st December. Asia TV Forum & Market brings together content sellers and buyers to provide exciting insights, unleash opportunities and forge new partnerships for the Asian markets across an international platform.

Sundance Film Festival 2021 (January 21-31)

While the 2020 edition took place as usual, 2021's edition will be slightly different (still under discussion). "The 2021 Sundance Film Festival will be a grand partnership of communities. It will take place live in Utah and in at least 20 independent and community cinemas across the U.S. and beyond."
