Focus on: French productions in development

As you may know, Moonday's main goal is to connect cinema and audiovisual professionals with projects. This week, we have decided to present you with upcoming French productions seeking companies that will help them distribute and finance their projects.

Black Star - Philippe Lâcote

The French-Ivorian director, whose film Night of Kings was awarded the Amplify Voices at Toronto International Film Festival and won a special mention during the International Festival of French-Speaking Cinema at Namur, has a new project in the works. Black Star is a historical drama telling the story of Dina, who, in the 60s, was the first and only black woman to dance at the Crazy Horse Saloon. The film is produced by Koro Films (France) and co-produced by Weydemann Bros. (Germany). The CNC, the PROCIREP and Palatine Étoile 17 Développement are helping with the financing of the project. There is no sales agent currently attached to the project.

Si On Chantait - Fabrice Maruca

"After their factory shuts down, a group of friends, decide to create a song delivery service. But between their complicated personalities, difficulties in finding clients and delivery issues, their new job is far from a light-hearted tune." This is the pitch of Fabrice Maruca's next feature film Si On Chantait. The comedy is being produced by Ciné Nominé and SND, with the help of Pictanovo. The project is still looking for a sales agent.

Milo - Anthony Lesaffre

With Milo, Anthony Lesaffre wants to tell the story of a mute young boy and his father trying to survive in a world that has been devastated by an unknown disaster. The film is being produced by Lasaffre's own production company, Vigario Productions. The science-fiction project, also written by Anthony Lesaffre himself, is currently in its pre-production stage and looking for financing.

Petit Lundi, Grosse Semaine - Jennifer Fanjeaux

Petit Lundi, Grosse Semaine is Jennifer Fanjeaux’s first film feature. The project is a social comedy focusing on the unemployed. The director, who has worked on different projects for television, received help from the CNC to develop her film. The project is produced by French company 247 Films. The production is currently looking for financing.

Les Bois Verts (Green Woods) - Guillaume Mainguet

Guillaume Mainguet's Green Woods focuses on Vincent, a young lawyer, who returns to his native village in Western France for his grandmother's funeral. Since the death of his father, Vincent has become the direct heir. Little by little the violent nature of the family is revealed. The French company Acrobates Films is producing Mainguet's drama, which is also being co-produced by STEFILM (Italy). The project is currently looking for financing.
